The Passion Behind the Craft

My journey with wood began back in 1998 when I joined a company specialising in wooden flooring. I fell in love with the touch, texture and smell of the different wood types we worked with. Over the years that appreciation turned into a hobby. In my spare time, I used scraps destined for the log burner and created tea light holders for the table and rustic bath boards for the bath.

Around eight years ago a good friend gifted me a small "FOX" lathe encouraging me to practice woodturning techniques. I was soon inseperable from the lathe, I was hooked, all my spare time was taken up with "You Tube" tutorials learning the skill of turning and putting it into practice on the lathe. I started turning small objects on the lathe, gradually progressing until I eventually upgraded to a bigger lathe capable of turning larger items. You will see from the pictures on this site, the items are unique and full of character. 

As Crafted-by-J, I believe in the beauty of handcrafted woodwork and the stories that each piece tells, making each item a cherished addition to your home.
